Natural back pain relief remedies

Back pain is suffered my many millions of people who find no long term relief from this complaint; medical science is still some way from discovering a back pain relief remedy that will work for everyone. Whilst prescription pain relief pills may in fact dull the pain to a manageable degree, they do not treat the root cause of the problem. Long term medication of pain killers is something that should be supervised as other problems can occur because of their continued use.

Back pain is often caused by muscle strain and repeated strenuous exercises; it is not uncommon for a person to cause permanent damage from just lifting something incorrectly. The most common way to injure your back though is by lifting badly, it is usually recognized immediately by a sharp pain at the base of the spine. More recently people are willing to try natural back pain relief treatments to stop their reliance on other types of medication.

One of the simplest but also underused remedies is just the act of stretching which can bring relief to tense muscles as well. Another type of treatment called reflexology uses a massage technique applied to the feet; it has found to be successful at treating people with long term conditions. In addition to this, reflexology can also help to improve the blood circulation which in turn provides relief to aching and tired muscles.

Acupuncture on the other hand has been used in China since before the birth of Christ and has had considerable success in helping sufferers. It is providing back pain relief even though this is something that has only recently being used in the Western world. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory that all people have this energy which flows through them called 'chi' or 'qi'. Acupuncture works by releasing the 'chi' or energy flow that every living thing has to improve health. Acupuncture can be used to treat almost all kinds of ailments including pain relief around the spine and studies made in acupuncture have provided results which are quite astounding.

The Chinese discipline of tai chi has also provided relief as it uses yoga like principles. It is far easier and much slower so there is less likelihood of further damage being caused. Tai Chi is however very gentle and easily performed by young and older people. It focuses on breathing exercises with additional stretching movements. Regular exercise is also one of the best preventative medicines available and can help with back pain relief; it would be a shame to forget the benefits that exercise can provide generally.
