Obesity Becoming a Global Problem

It is an unfortunate fact that overweight teenagers usually grow into overweight adults; parents know they need to resolve this weight issue before their child grows older and it affects their whole life. A young persons self confidence (and self image) can be seriously damaged when they result regular in mockery and derision. Teen weight loss programs are being used to teach them about the health issues involved including how it affects their attitude towards themselves and others.

If left unchecked, weight problems will mean they will have physical and emotional problems in their adult lives as well. Unfortunately being overweight can lead to major future health problems including:

How do I get past this weight loss plateau?

I lost 15lbs over the course of the last 3 months averagin 1-1 1/2 lbs lost. I am 5'5" and I am now down to 142 lbs. I still want to lose another 15 lbs (is this okay?).
I have tried eating whatever I want to jumpstart my weight loss but that did not work. Currently I am on a semi-low-carb diet. I have to have some carbs because I get too dizzy. I also work out 3-4 times a week. Cardio for 1/2 hr and then strenghening exercises.
How can I get past this weight loss?
The scale hasn't budged from 142lbs in 3 weeks.

Our bodies are smart, they will do everything they can to stay at the bodyfat it feels it needs to function, therefore losing the last 10-15 lbs is always the hardest. Make sure you're eating CLEAN, no processed or fast food, eating whatever you want is only going to set you back. We need good, clean carbs to help in weight loss and don't forget your essential fatty acids, & healthy fats. I could go on forever, but if you already feel you're eating healthy than simply cut your calories –anywhere from 250-500 calories a day should work, if you're losing 1-2 lbs a week then it's working if not adjust slightly more every two weeks. Do not go too low or else your body will go into starvation mode and it will want to hold on to every last calorie, so the weight loss will be hindered. Keeping track of calories does help, another technique to calculate how many calories you need for weight loss would be to take your bodyweight x 12. Therefore for you, it would be 1,704 calories a day. Divide this between 5-6 meals a day, with every meal have protein, carbs and a healthy fat. OR you can also try carb cycling, with this you would eat a higher amount of carbs on your training days, will low carb days on non-training days. You might also try making your cardio workouts, interval training. Where you sprint for 30 sec, jog for 60 sec, so on and so forth for 20 minutes. It's a pretty intense workout so start out slow! Keep changing things in your workouts it will give your body the kickstart it needs and yest you do have to lift heavy, you are NOT going to get bulky and heavy reps with light weights are really a waste of your time.

"If You Want A Six Pack Why The Heck Do You Spend So Much Time Doing Situps?” - How I Lost Weight By Working Smart. - Part 1

I was just thinking about how many people start a fat loss routine and either end up losing no weight or gaining on it. Exercises like HIIT are great for losing weight but the devil of weight loss is really in the details. There are three things that i found important when trying to lose fat.

I was overweight a few years ago, it wasn't much fun, I felt ugly and it felt almost like I was helpless to change the situation, I couldn't move myself to fix it. I got the occasional "you are fine as you are, people should like you for your personality…….", not exactly what I wanted hear.

I remember being in a bar one evening with my friends after work, we had to sit on some white plastic stools and one of my friends remarked that it wouldn't be able to hold my weight. I know it was just a joke and I laughed with the rest of them but it stung. I'm a fun person but it really made me wonder what people's first impressions of me were when they saw me. It was a catalyst that helped me firm up my mind, and from that I lost the weight, and it was great.

I was lean and I liked it. I enjoyed the compliments, clothes look great on me, I love catching those secret glances that come my way and its fantastic being an example for other people. Being lean is great, it's what you really want. So why do you want to stay fat? I don't want to stay fat!!! Really?, well here's the thing, getting lean is no secret. The perfect workout to lose belly fat, the right food – these things are not mysteries anymore, the tools for losing weight very quickly are right at your fingertips…so what's the problem?

Mental toughness can be the key if you want to lose belly fat. The excuses not to stick with a plan can be numerous and exhaustive, too. Making up your mind is the first step to success.

Losing weight is more a battle that is waged in the mind than in the gym or at the dinner table. Visualizing success is a prerequisite for success itself in any endeavor.

What do you think about weight loss pills?

Who is for and who is against weight loss pills? I`m doing some sort of a survey among you people so I can decide whether I will take some weight loss pills in order to lose almost 30 pounds or not. If you don`t agree to weight loss drugs, what else besides eating vegetables do you suggest?

Hello! I don`t agree to weight loss pills. I believe you must lose weight the same way you gained weight.. The best way to lose weight is the healthy way. Just keep your calorie intake under control and things will work out great! I work a lot so I use an online diet and workout planner to count my calories. In my opinion, this is the safest and healthiest way to stay in shape.

Getting rid of cellulite

The ‘orange peel' effect seen on some people's thighs and buttocks are fat cells beneath the skin and is known by the general term ‘cellulite'; although it can be found anywhere, it is primarily in a persons lower half. Do not be fooled into thinking that this is a condition purely confined to women who are overweight because most carry additional fat anyway; the lumpy substance that looks more like cottage cheese beneath the skin can affect slim, even sporting women as well.

You see as the collection of fats push against the connective tissue, it tends to cause the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and visually look lumpy; giving you what is referred to as cellulite. In reality, nobody knows the real reason why some people accumulate these fats and not others, but there are some factors that health experts are considering such as the structure of the fat cells or toxins that enter the body.

Two components of the skin that decrease with age are elastin and collagen, both of which may be responsible for the increase of these fatty cells as women grow older. The condition is almost exclusive to women and has been attributed to hormonal changes that take place as a woman gets older as the fat in the thighs and buttocks of men is the same as fat found in other parts of their bodies.

Often the cellulite goes unnoticed and it is only when a person's muscles are compressed or the skin is pinched that it can be seen and felt but women should not feel depressed about the problem as most suffer with it to a greater or lesser degree. Although it may not be known what causes, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

Despite research, science has no answers to the definitive cause which means that any manufacturer can make claims but how to rid people of the condition including creams to make it disappear. Where cellulite removal massage is offered at a clinic, all that is done is deep tissue massage which just masks the affect so it cannot be seen as readily.

Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove the fat cells and even by injecting drugs directly into the affected sacks directly. The problem with liposuction is not really the correct therapy for removing this type of fat but is for deeper fats, not those stuck in connective tissue, so it cannot claim to be a best treatment for cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. It can only really be reduced as part of an overall weight reduction program through adopting a healthy eating and living plan, together with increasing exercise, so that body fat is reduced rather than connective tissues.

If this is also followed by the adoption of drinking plenty of fresh water every day; unwanted toxins which can help in the formation of cellulite in the tissue are gradually removed.
