Benefits of Becoming A Vegetarian

Becoming a vegetarian is an ideal for many people that believe they should convert but don't fully understand the benefits. You may ask yourself will it really make much difference in the scheme of things. However, if enough individuals do stop, it becomes statistically more important to the health of animals on this planet. The primary reason for the change is the reduction of deaths caused by heart disease that is brought about by the huge consumption of meat.

Circulatory, heart problems, high cholesterol and heart attacks are primarily caused by the regular consumption of dairy products, eggs and meat; a reduction in this consumption would lower these health problems. The organization Earth Save says that a meat eating individual is four times more likely to have a heart attack as a vegetarian. Pure vegans have an even lower likelihood of a heart attack with only a 10 percent chance against a meat eater. The health of a persons heart is only one of many areas where being a vegetarian will benefit their overall health.

Preservatives which are used a great deal in meat are reduced and so are the incidences of cancer. Vegetarians will also benefit from knowing they will not be consuming many of the hormones cattle ingest as part of their feed; which can cause hormonal problems in people. Another substance, lactose, is also missing from their diet which has causal links with digestive conditions. Ok so there are obvious health benefits to becoming a vegetarian but it will also mean that many animals will not be harmed either.

The organization Vegan Out-Reach claims that the number of animals killed to feed the average American citizen during their life is in excess of two thousand seven hundred. Just in a couple of decades, many hundreds of animals would not need to loose their lives if you were to make this commitment. Furthermore, by reducing your intake of dairy products and eggs, many hens and cows will have better living conditions. After the information you have read here it would be difficult to say no to becoming a vegetarian wouldn't it? The reduction in animal life lost and the improvement in your health should be convincing enough.
