Increased Mortality for Vegans
Whether to become a vegetarian might be something you have been thinking about for some time but do not really know if will change anything for you. Although in the scheme of things you may wonder just what effect one person can make. However, if enough individuals do stop, it becomes statistically more important to the health of animals on this planet. This point is very well highlighted by the instances of heart disease in people that have a meat rich diet in America.
Meat, dairy produce and eggs are the main sources of cholesterol which are the contributing factors in coronary heart disease and other circulation problems. According to Earth Save, the average vegetarian has about a quarter of a chance of having a heart attack as the average person. Those individuals that have gone one step further an become vegans have around a ten percent chance of a heart attack as opposed to people on regular diets. A healthy heart is not the only ‘health benefit' to becoming a vegetarian as there are other reasons too.
For instance, you won't be exposed to nearly as many preservatives, which are common in meat and are linked to cancer. Vegetarians will also benefit from knowing they will not be consuming many of the hormones cattle ingest as part of their feed; which can cause hormonal problems in people. Some digestive conditions are claimed to be caused by a reaction to lactose which is avoided if you are a non-meat eater. The fact is people who become vegetarians have healthier lives; they can also feel comfortable knowing that they are not responsible for the slaughter of any animals.
Studies suggest that the average United States citizen will consume more than two thousand seven hundred animals throughout their life. It is a sobering thought that a change in diet could literally save hundreds of animals from being slaughtered over the course of a decade alone. In addition to this, if you stop eating eggs and drinking milk, you will also reduce your share in the suffering and death of battery hens and their offspring, as well as dairy cows. So if you haven't worked it out by now, yes we can all make a difference both individually and collectively which should show why becoming a vegetarian is so important. Many animal lives would be saved and your life would be improved with less chance of you developing cancer or a coronary heart condition.
