Start Having Fruits in Your Diet!

The term antioxidant refers to a group of compounds found in everyday substances like plants which have health giving benefits to help fight disease. These phytonutrients are able to protect us from other illnesses as well as many diseases. Although only nine hundred if these phytonutrients have been discovered so far it is the scientist opinion that many more will be found and will change tomorrows health care needs; but medical researchers believe that they are only just beginning and this could be the future of preventative health care in the world. There have been a huge number of health benefits discovered so far from many well known foods; the anti-aging power of blueberries and the effect that cherries have on reducing joint pain, are just two of the benefits found so far.

Unrecognized for many years, the properties contained in the blueberry are only just now being appreciated with many antioxidant compounds contained in a fruit with very low sugar content. Fruit juice provides many benefits and is a more pleasurable way to consume this type of food; these fruits have been shown to benefit the immune system and help improve the circulation. These can also strengthen the body's ability to fight disease and infection due to they're powerful antioxidants and healthy nutrients. The old saying about an apple-a-day couldn't be truer with evidence that they can help prevent the chance of heart conditions occurring.

The likes of many citrus fruits also have health benefits associated with the phytochemicals they contain. Tart cherries for instance have a number of properties which work together to help people who have arthritis, gout and fibromyalgia. Of course these fruits contain large amounts of vitamins B, C and E plus other which are already known to have beneficial effects on our health. Another group of antioxidants called Phytoalexins (resveratrol) found in many berries can prevent infection and have anti-viral properties.

Many people with other aging conditions prevalent around the world, for instance: heart attacks, stroke and Alzheimer's can all benefit when these compounds are used. Tomatoes are another fruit that contains nutrients that can help prevent to the onset of certain cancers as well as heart conditions. Although quite large quantities are needed so using tomato juice, puree or sauce which are all concentrates has been found to be the best way to increase the level of the antioxidants in our food. Nature has also blessed the watermelon with phytonutrients; in fact the most important discovered to date! With all the natural goodness fruit contains and now the health benefits as well, isn't it time for you to start having more fruit in your diet.
