Skin care
For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; Fortunately, skin care treatments are plentiful. The number of people afflicted around the world is huge so science research is making advances; recent medical advancements are, in fact, proving to be very effective in treating this condition. Despite the number of acne skin care products currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups: <UL TYPE="square"> *Drugstore or Internet: Preventative medication *Internet or Drugstore: Treatment to help relieve the condition *Specialized, on-prescription acne products </UL
Many skin care products are used as a measure to prevent acne; these products can be anything from skin cleansers to makeup removers. Many people use products similar to this every day as part of their skin care regime; often used by those who want to prevent future skin problems from occurring. More specialized cleaners are designed in the same way as acne skin care products; devised primarily to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.
General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; there is now a variety of this type of product available over the counter. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. There is a huge market for these types of acne skin care products as they don't require a consultation with a dermatologist. These formulations contain the chemical benzoyl peroxide and the naturally occurring salicylic acid; these include products which extract the unwanted oil from the skin.
It is preferable when you first start using this type of product to keep the concentration of it low, around 5.5 percent is best; an alternative to this includes products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. Because we all have different types of skin, more than one type of acne skin care product may need to be tried; however, if finding an effective remedy it is proving to be a problem then consult with your doctor, or skin care specialist. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments.
Your dermatologist may suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage. Your doctor may even suggest a course of hormone therapy as a skin care treatment; studies show that hormone based skin care treatments often prove effective. Science has produced many effective treatments for this unkind condition.
