Those Painful Cramps

As a woman reaches that difficult stage in her life she may be forgiven in believing that her body is out to get her. Some women only start to really suffer with menstrual cramps (the bane of many women) when they enter their menopause. Other contributing factors which can increase the problem are PCOS and also endometriosis both of which affect approximately 10 percent of women. A few women are lucky and their pains hardly bother them whilst other can barely get out of bed.

The problem is getting a menstrual cramp relief remedy that you can guarantee will work every month. Pain relief pills seem to be the most prescribed option amongst women. The pain relief pill devised purely for this complaint and marketed heavily is Pamprin. Although many women prefer not to take any form of medication, this does you no credit if you cannot do anything for days each month.

Why waste days of your life in pain when there is no need; think about all those things that you are stopped form doing. Often the cramps are just one aspect of the discomfort because they can also be accompanied by nausea and the feeling of eating a very large meal. Because I know how painful bad cramps can be, I have had to find other forms of menstrual cramp relief. Another problem is the irregularity because some months it feels as if I am being given a bear hug and others where there is no discomfort at all.

There are times when nothing seems to give me any relief but someone suggested I try a heat pad on my stomach which worked quite well although sometimes it works better against my back. This might be something you want to try if you have found that pain relief pills are not the route you want to go. Whilst these ideas may be ok for some women, others that have regular painful menstrual cramps each month may need to do something more permanent. If this is a problem that affects your work attendance then you may need to do something about it before it damages your chance of promotion.

If this has happened to you, you should make an appointment to talk to your doctor about finding menstrual cramp relief. Quite often it can be a simple case of being prescribed one of the birth control pills as these are effective for many women and this might be something your doctor recommends. Obviously this would be a stupid option if you are trying for a baby but there will be other remedies you doctor can prescribe to help the cramp you feel each cycle. You can get relief from those awful cramps if you try enough different remedies because it is only a matter of time.
