Antioxidants For Skin Care
The use of anti-aging skin care products has grown enormously over the last two decades; as our lifespan increases so does our desire to remain active as well as look young and healthy. We achieve this with beauty products that synthesize the production of the protein collagen; twenty-five per cent of the skin's protein is collagen. Most anti-ageing products (collagen included) fall into a category of natural everyday products we all use; known as antioxidants, they are the body's method of slowing down the aging process.
One of the best known anti-oxidants is vitamin C and despite continual research, no-one body involved can decide just exactly how much our body should consume on a daily basis. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.
To get around this some skin care treatments are based on derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable and less expensive. These new anti-oxidant products are not quite as good as vitamin C although other naturally occurring compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can achieve the same effect.
Found in human blood, vitamin E is not only an antioxidant but is designed to boost the immune system's resistance to illness; there is some evidence to show it helps prevent diseases including cancer. Lipoic acid, which is found inside every cell of the body, helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning; it is also able to help reduce and restore the skin's aging process.
The use of plants has not been overlooked either with many types able to provide essences called phytochemicals which have proved successful in anti-aging skin care products. A secondary but more important use of phytochemicals is the effect they have on the prevention of some strains of cancer; these include:
<ul> <li>Cancer of the Prostate</li> <li>Cancer of the Breast</li> <li>Cancer of the Colon</li> </ul>
These are all on the increase around the world.
It has also been discovered that there are anti-ageing benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. The use of anti-ageing skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age. There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle; more long term effective methods will eventually be found to reverse or slow down the effects of aging.
Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be produced. Scientific research into anti-aging products is still in the early stages but they should never be relied upon; fortunately there is a number of natural anti-aging regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. Drinking plenty of water, getting a good night's sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are an essential means of delaying the ageing process.

Area For Anti-aging Treatments
Anti-aging skin care products are very popular today; which is not surprising because we are all living longer and fuller lives so why shouldn't we want to look younger? This is done using skin care products that encourage the growth of the protein collagen which happens to be the main source of the protein used in the connective tissue of skin; twenty-five per cent of the skin's protein is collagen. This area of anti-ageing treatments is connected to another group of products that help people to look young; this group is called antioxidants which are natural chemicals found in many foods and our body.
Although the benefits of vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) are well documented, it is still debated as to what our daily amount should be. Vitamin C formulated skin care treatments suffer with a particular problem of oxidizing on contact with the air which causes a problem for users and manufacturers.
Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.
Found in human blood, vitamin E is not only an antioxidant but is designed to boost the immune system's resistance to illness; it helps build resistance against infection like cancer for example. Lipoic acid is found in every single human cell and helps provide energy; it can help reverse much of the damage caused to the skin by ageing.
Another group of products used to reduce the visible signs of aging are phytochemicals which are compounds extracted from various plants and used in many anti-aging skin care products. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of certain types of cancer; examples of these are:
<ul> <li>Prostate Cancer in Men</li> <li>Cancer of the Breast</li> <li>Cancer of the Bowel</li> </ul>
These are all on the increase around the world.
For some time now it has also been known that the vitamins B5, B6 and B12 also have anti-ageing skin care properties. Although the area of anti-ageing skin care products is huge, more is being learnt about the whole ageing process and about natural products that can reduce the effects it has on our bodies as well as our skin. There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle; with the number of genetic discoveries made in recent years, it is only a matter of time before conquering the effects of age is commonplace.
There may be many challenges still to overcome but in time scientists believe they will succeed in producing more effective anti-ageing skin care products that are less expensive and available to more people. However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement; fortunately there is a number of natural anti-aging regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. You know all these things but how many do you practice? Regular exercise, restful sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress levels low are all necessary.

Slowing Down Aging
Anti-aging skin care products are very popular today; when most of us can expect to live longer and have fuller, more active lives, this is hardly surprising. This is achieved in beauty products by promoting the growth of connective tissue using the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals; almost 25 percent of the protein in skin is actually collagen. Collagen is related to other natural substances which help to slow down the ageing process; we call them antioxidants, they aid the repair of cell damage associated with cell damage.
Vitamin C is probably one of the better known anti-oxidants in use today but the debate about the daily quota required is ongoing. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.
Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. Although these products are good, they cannot actually compare with vitamin C but fortunately vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants so can be used to gain the same effect.
Vitamin E is found in the blood and is an antioxidant that is also used to increase the body's defenses against other health problems; it has many functions including inhibiting the formation of cancer cells. Lipoic acid is found in every single human cell and helps provide energy; an additional function is to repair skin damage caused by the normal aging process.
Another group of products used to reduce the visible signs of aging are phytochemicals which are compounds extracted from various plants and used in many anti-aging skin care products. A secondary but more important use of phytochemicals is the effect they have on the prevention of some strains of cancer; for instance:
<ul> <li>Prostate Cancer</li> <li>Cancer of the Breast</li> <li>Cancer that attacks the Colon</li> </ul>
These are all on the increase around the world.
For some time now it has also been known that the vitamins B5, B6 and B12 also have anti-ageing skin care properties. This is a vast area that has the potential for many new anti-ageing skin care products and services in the future but research needs to continue. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; with the number of genetic discoveries made in recent years, it is only a matter of time before conquering the effects of age is commonplace.
With the research that is now taking place, many people are confident that in time, more effective, cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be discovered. At the moment though, science is still behind the field of natural anti-aging methods; in some respects the real way ahead lies in our own hands as there are many things we can do to reduce the signs of aging - naturally. Drinking plenty of water, getting a good night's sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are an essential means of delaying the ageing process.

Skin Care Products To look Young
The regular use of anti-aging skin care products is becoming normal these days; it is only natural that as people get older they want to continue looking young so will use products that help them achieve this. Skin is important so a great deal of effort goes into the preparation of beauty products especially those that increase the production of collagen, which is the primary protein in skin; with around a quarter of our skin protein being collagen, the importance of this substance has not gone unnoticed.
Vitamin C formulated skin care treatments suffer with a particular problem of oxidizing on contact with the air which causes a problem for users and manufacturers.
More stable skin care treatments are now available that are almost as efficient and actually cost less to manufacture. These alternative products are not as effective as vitamin C but vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants and are now being used.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant and is found in human blood; it helps build resistance against infection like cancer for example. Lipoic acid, which is found inside every cell of the body, helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning; an additional function is to repair skin damage caused by the normal aging process.
Phytochemicals aren't produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-aging skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. A further benefit of these phytochemicals is their ability to prevent the onset of certain cancers; for instance:
<ul> <li>Cancer that attacks the Prostate</li> <li>Cancer of the Breast</li> <li>Cancer of the Colon</li> </ul>
These three types of cancer are also becoming a global problem.
Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. Although the area of anti-ageing skin care products is huge, more is being learnt about the whole ageing process and about natural products that can reduce the effects it has on our bodies as well as our skin. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; there is still a long way to go however, before methods that successfully reduce the effects of age are commonplace.
In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use. However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement; it is doubtful if science can replace natural skin care remedies. Drinking plenty of water, getting a good night's sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are an essential means of delaying the ageing process.
