Weight Problem
In today's world where being overweight is becoming a commonplace condition; the problem has now extended to younger and younger children who are affected, with the fear they will grow into overweight adults. The patient ones have to decide to face this problem by adjusting their diet and taking more exercise but the impatient ones usually decide on surgery. If surgery isn't bad enough, increasing numbers of overweight people start to take weight loss drugs as a fast and relatively inexpensive way to shed excess fat.
These drugs usually work buy telling the brain it's no longer hungry, stimulating metabolism to aid the shedding of excess fat. Unfortunately for the manufacturers, it was found that incidence of heart valve disease were connected to the use of the weight control pills and were rapidly removed from the shelves. More recently, new drugs have been developed and prescribed by doctors; many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.
You may in fact know someone who has used these pills at some time and has first hand experience of how effective they can be. It is a tempting proposition, to lose weight while still maintaining the same diet; who would say no? Many millions of dollars are spent each year in The United States alone whilst the drug manufacturers spend huge sums on further research into weight loss drugs.
Despite the advances in weight control pills there are still health problems, some of which people are sickness and diarrhea. But they are not the only side effects and some can be more harmful than others. These include heart attacks, tremors, strokes, hallucinations and renal failure.
It is always a good idea to see your doctor first before you take any course of drugs; this can lower the possibility of some side effects occurring, although this may depend on the genetic makeup of the person using them. Other problems may also occur when the pills are discontinued. These effects can be equally unpleasant as the side effects occurring as a result of taking weight control pills.
Whilst the effectiveness of these weight loss drugs is not in question, they are more effective if they are used alongside a controlled diet and exercise regime. The type of balanced food groups would be oats, cereals, rice, potatoes with fruit and vegetables as the best source of minerals, fiber and vitamins.
Of course this should always be combined with a good exercise routine which will use up excess calories and provide a good all round fitness workout. Of course a good exercise regime will combine exercises that increase the heart rate and exercises that use weights to tone the muscles. A regime of this kind would increase an individual's metabolic rate.
