Menstrual Cramps

For women, the wisdom you acquire with age is often offset by the physical discomfort your body seems determined to inflict upon you. Even if you have irregular cycles, you can still get hit with menstrual cramps, though some women get them worse than others. The condition of endometriosis (which affects 1 in 10 women) can also increase the pain a woman will feel during this time. Each woman experiences the pains differently with some hardly able to do anything during this period.

Whilst a number of remedies available claim they will give menstrual cramp relief, it is the reliability of these drugs that often causes a problem. One of the most common types of comes in the form of a pill and many women swear by it. You can try any pain relief remedy and they should work but many women swear by Pamprin which was designed just for this reason. Even if you don't like taking pain medication and have always steered clear of pain relief, this may be a time to reconsider.

Why waste days of your life in pain when there is no need; think about all those things that you are stopped form doing. If the cramps aren't bad enough, women can also suffer with a bloated stomach and the sensation of queasiness too. After a number of years of suffering I'd had enough and decided to find a menstrual cramp relief remedy to claim those days back every month. Another problem is the irregularity because some months it feels as if I am being given a bear hug and others where there is no discomfort at all.

I have tried all sorts including quite recently a heat pad which seems to work but I do have to vary where I position it for it to be effective. Many women that try this method are those that just prefer not to take any form of oral medication. However, if you endure more painful menstrual cramps you may need to try something stronger. The problem worsens when every month regular as clockwork you have to call in sick from your job.

If this has happened to you, you should make an appointment to talk to your doctor about finding menstrual cramp relief. Don't worry if your doctor suggests trying the Pill because he knows just how many women have benefited from this as a remedy, or he might have a new treatment that you haven't considered. Just remember to talk about your health matters with your doctor to see if it is safe for you to be on the Pill, and remember, this isn't an option if you are trying to get pregnant and in that case, you may just have to grin and bear your discomfort. It may take some trial and error but you will find a remedy eventually.
